HOW CAN THIS HELP YOU
This learning guide and workbook will provide clarity on unconscious bias and how to manage it effectively. This will cover five key cognitive biases that often prove hurtful and derail leadership decisions. You will discover which biases tend to show up most often in your leadership, and how to shift into more reliable decision making. This can enable more inclusive and fair leadership decisions.
HOW THIS CAME ABOUT
The conversation on leadership and inclusion is incomplete without also talking about unconscious and conscious biases. My work in leadership development for over two decades has taught me that it's crucial for leaders to raise bias awareness and find smart ways to interrupt their biases. This is an important aspect of my work and one that I want to present with compassion, practicality and reason.
WHAT YOU WILL GET
When you download the Recognising and Managing Leadership Biases Guide and Workbook, you will receive a 25 page document. You will find clarity on each kind of bias, examples of how these biases affect decisions and tools to interrupt bias. This will help you be fair, objective and inclusive by design.
WHAT MORE COULD YOU DO
I hope you will not stop at downloading this Guide, and go through the information and learning that follows. It can raise your leadership standards when you know which biases tend to show up most often in your leadership, and learn how to effectively shift into fair and inclusive decision-making.
HOW TO USE THIS LEARNING GUIDE
You will first gain clarity on what are unconscious biases and how these affect your team members. Each of these biases are important for leaders to focus on, so your intention to be a fair, empathetic and respectful leader translates into decisions. When you go through each bias and the workbook questions, it may bring up past decisions and also feelings of regret, embarrassment, or even guilt. Make sure you read the section on being empathetic to yourself when raising bias awareness, which will help gain perspective, get unstuck and move forward. Respond to each question honestly as this is a private activity and is meant for you to learn.
